Spring has Sprung!

Gentlemen,

After a long and dubious wintery nightmare (Polar Vortex, anyone?), spring has finally sprung! So now is the time to put the wool ties on hiatus and move to lighter pastures. Linen and cotton are now up to bat through Labor Day, and this should get reflected from your suit down to your accessories. Bright colors and lighter textures are indicative of the springtime weather and your wardrobe should reflect that. No one wears the deep burgundy wool tie to the office while it’s sunny and 75°, that’s just ludicrous and we won’t stand for it. Here is your chance to rock that Yellow & Green Brooks Brothers cotton tie that you’ve had your eye on all winter, anxiously awaiting the thermometer to hit anything above 40° to get the opportunity.

With the April Showers soon to bring May Flowers, be sure to get a jump on the floral trend before Mother Nature does and add some flower-patterned accoutrements to your queues. The FreshNeck stylists suggest this Michael Andrew’s Bespoke purple floral tie to help put that extra spring in your step (see what we did there?). Casual spring pocket squares are also a great way to brighten up your everyday dress for the season. Slap on this sea-foam green and sky blue Breuer pocket square to add some colorful dimensions to your navy suit or blazer.

When One Barrel Just Won’t Cut It

Our #NewCasual ties have been such a hit, so we’re expanding the Collection. We recently added a selection of ties (plus one bow tie) from NewCasual master Everett, most from their Double-Barrel series, which features contrasting patterns and fabrics on the front and tail of the tie. They all come in a sleek 2″ width.

Subscription Boxes – Gifts That Keep On Giving

images-1

Giving gifts can be a pain in the ass.  How on earth are you supposed to know what to get your 12 year-old brother? Or 75 year-old grandfather (Can I interest you in a Cannabis Box, Grandpa)? We know you already have the Dapper Gentleman in your life covered, thanks to our gift-guide, but that doesn’t account for quite a few people on your checklist.

Well fortunately, there is now a way to get the perfectly suited gift for every person on your list – and here’s the best part – you NEVER have to leave your home – Subscription Boxes.

You’re already familiar with the model, because duh, that’s how you get your ties. But what you may not realize, there are over 100 companies sending out boxes for all types of people. Most allow you to purchase as little as one month, up to a year, then you’re off the hook and the recipient can decide whether he wants to keep up with the subscription (That’s how we do it). It’s a great way to help them “discover” something they may love, and there is just something about the feeling of getting a nice little boxed surprise every month.

Versace, Versace Medusa Head on Me Like I’m ‘Luminati

Perhaps you don’t ball as hard as Drake and Migos with their “pillows Versace, sheets are Versace…shirt and shoes Versace.”

But you can add that dash of Italian flare your outfit may be missing with FreshNeck’s 8 new Versace arrivals.  Featuring bold colors and patterns, and often the famed Medusa Head Logo, it is hard to mistake a Versace piece.

Get Your Dandy On – New Lapel Flowers

Lapel Flower

We’ve told you before how the Lapel Flower (the modern boutonniere) is making a comeback.  They can be found adorning the lapels of dapper gentlemen from Milan to New York City. There seems to also be a bit of a coup amongst the SportsCenter crew up in Bristol Connecticut (See Ray Lewis). What these men already know, and what you’ll soon realize, is that the lapel flower is the new pocket square, a way to add a dash of style and intrigue to an outfit, without conforming to the norm.

We’ve seen a huge increase in demand, so we’re increasing the supply! We recently added 8 new lapel flowers to the Collection, from Made in Manhattan designer Harper Heritage. Check out the additions here, or go to their website to view/purchase the entire line.

New Kiton Ties and Pocket Squares

TheCollection banner

We’re always doing our best to keep our Collection “fresh” (see what we did there?). This comes in many forms: 1) ensuring we have variety at each membership level, 2) multiples of each item so they are generally available, 3) finding the best emerging designers, 4) experimenting with products and designs.

In this light, we have been making many inventory purchases over the past month(with more to come), that will be made available on the site over the coming weeks. Since the Collection is getting a bit cumbersome (over 1600 unique items!), we will highlight some of our favorite new additions here, so you can efficiently add the ones you like to your closet.

Kiton_03Today, we’re proud to highlight our new collection of Kiton pocket squares. Kiton represents the finest in Italian luxury. Their pocket squares are 15″, made from the highest quality silk in Napoli, and feature hand-rolled edges in a contrasting color.  The new additions feature medallion prints in a variety of bold colors. Kiton pocket squares make a great stand-alone accessory with a blazer and shirt, or as a compliment to a quality tie.

You can check them all out, along with our Kiton ties, here.

By the way, these pocket squares retail for $140 each. We’re pretty confident in our value proposition, so here’s the link to prove it.

Blogs We Love (other than ours!)

There is inspiration everywhere.  Unfortunately, this means there is also a ton of “noise” out there as well.  With the extremely low barriers to entry to blogging (read: a working internet connection and a camera phone), everyone and their mothers is giving it a go.

Allow us to do the dirty work.  We’ve spent hours and hours (lattes and lattes) digging through the thousands of men’s fashion blogs, and are giving you some of our favorites.

1. Dappered (dappered.com)

Dappered Vest

While many blogs tout the “high fashion for less”, perhaps none do it better (or funnier) than Joe. He has great style, and is honest and up front with his reviews.  He also caters to the “everyman,” ignoring ridiculous runway fashion. Great place to check out sales. Oh, and he’s recently dedicated some ad space on his site to showing really cool artwork.

2. The Style Blogger (tsbmen.com)

The Style Blogger

A former Esquire “Best Dressed Real Man In America”, Dan Trepanier now runs a team of four dedicated to pushing the boundaries of online menswear content. While styling great outfits of themselves and others, they also provide outstanding content, giving men the know-how to put great outfits together themselves. As a bonus, they’ve developed the Style Guide, which lets you input variables such as occasion and weather, and it spits out outfit inspiration (similar to Urban Daddy’s “The Next Move”).

3. Style Girlfriend (stylegirlfriend.com)

Style Girlfriend

Let’s face it – men dress up for a few reasons: to express their personality, to feel good about themselves, to impress at work, etc.  But in reality, much of this is really to attract and impress the fairer sex. So it only makes sense that we should take some of our style advice from “the other team.” Enter Megan Collins, who dishes out advice to make “fashion easier for guys.” And she’s not a “I’m a girl and I’m going to tell you how to dress” type, but more of the “we’d have a blast drinking beers and I’m gonna help you score” type a lady.  She seems to stick mostly to basics, like “wear jeans that fit,” and “how to layer effectively,”  but don’t underestimate how many guys really need such advice.  She’s recently begun a video series, and will even hit up non-fashion topics like fitness and traveling.

4. Menswear Dog (mensweardog.tumblr.com)

Menswear Dog

We love fashion. We love dogs.  We REALLY love dogs that love fashion.  Menswear Dog is a 4-year-old Shiba Inu with a panache for all things style.  He may also have a man-crush on Ryan Gosling (but who of us don’t?). After already collaborating with the likes of Allen Edmonds and The Tie Bar, this old dog surely has some new tricks up his sleeve.

What about you? Where do you get your daily inspiration? Let us know in the comments below.

Staff Picks: Fall Preview

We know that looking through over 1500 ties, bow ties, pocket squares, and cufflinks can be a daunting (but fun) task, so every once in a while we like to highlight a few of our personal favorites.

September 22nd is the first official day of Fall, so it’s getting to be the time to put away those linens and seersuckers, and opt for something a bit heavier (think wool).  And those summer pastels should be replaced with burgundy (the hottest color of the upcoming season), navy, emerald green, and other autumnal colors.

Fortunately, with FreshNeck, it won’t cost you anything to make the seasonal switch:

The British Are Coming!

Duchamp

In an ongoing effort to provide our members with the biggest, boldest, and baddest ties out there, we are proud to announce the addition of Duchamp to our Collection.

Named after the French surreal artist Marcel Duchamp, the British brand is celebrating its 24th anniversary in 2013.  With a network of small, family owned mill and manufacturers in the UK, they offer a full range of menswear, from dapper suits, blazers, waistcoats and shirts, to accessories like ties, bow ties, cufflinks, belts, and bags.

Sold in high-end retailers such as Barney’s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale’s (for $140), a Duchamp tie is often recognizable without even seeing a label.  Crafted from the finest silk, Duchamp ties often use vivid and bold colors and patterns.
