Step Up Your Prom Game

prom_img

With the start of the spring season, that only means one thing for our high school sartorialists: Prom Season is upon us. The pressure to find the right date can be stressful enough to begin with, but then comes the challenge of dressing the part. The gentlemen (traditionally) try and match the colors their date will be wearing to compliment her dress, which is always the safe bet, but can be difficult when she’s decided on the cadmium colored dress with cerulean accents.  The matching tie and vest from Men’s Wearhouse can be generic, so you run the risk of wearing the same outfit as a few of your classmates. Nobody wants that.

With FreshNeck’s One-Time Rentals, you will have access to an expansive 2,000 + item inventory of ties, bow ties, pocket squares, cufflinks and more! Rentals start as low as $5 per item! Now you can stand out in the sea of high school mediocrity and even impress your date with that newfound sense of sophistication.  She won’t be able to keep her eyes (and hands) off of you throughout the night, as well as making all of the other ladies jealous with envy.

Whether you are renting a black tuxedo or wearing your tried and true navy or charcoal suit (and not that all-white tuxedo that you will regret down the road), let your accessories do some of the talking to give your special occasion’s setup a bit more “pop” to help catch someone’s eye. It can be subtle and elegant like these custom black and navy Biagio Santo Bow Ties or a touch of chic class with a skinny floral Ted Baker tie. Suspenders will not only add functionality to your tuxedo in lieu of a clunky belt buckle, but some European flair as well. Pair these classic black herringbone Trafalgar suspenders with your classic Black Tie garb for a subtle and sophisticated addition.

As always, the pocket square and lapel flower are not required, but are strongly encouraged if you are looking to tie everything together or need that little extra kick to set off your prom day uniform.

Spring has Sprung!

522425_550557971672731_1791770788_n

Gentlemen,

After a long and dubious wintery nightmare (Polar Vortex, anyone?), spring has finally sprung! So now is the time to put the wool ties on hiatus and move to lighter pastures. Linen and cotton are now up to bat through Labor Day, and this should get reflected from your suit down to your accessories. Bright colors and lighter textures are indicative of the springtime weather and your wardrobe should reflect that. No one wears the deep burgundy wool tie to the office while it’s sunny and 75°, that’s just ludicrous and we won’t stand for it. Here is your chance to rock that Yellow & Green Brooks Brothers cotton tie that you’ve had your eye on all winter, anxiously awaiting the thermometer to hit anything above 40° to get the opportunity.

With the April Showers soon to bring May Flowers, be sure to get a jump on the floral trend before Mother Nature does and add some flower-patterned accoutrements to your queues. The FreshNeck stylists suggest this Michael Andrew’s Bespoke purple floral tie to help put that extra spring in your step (see what we did there?). Casual spring pocket squares are also a great way to brighten up your everyday dress for the season. Slap on this sea-foam green and sky blue Breuer pocket square to add some colorful dimensions to your navy suit or blazer.

Meet GQ’s Style Man of the Year in 2023

Meet Tobias Otting. Hailing from Boston, he lists his passions as fashion, dancing, dining, and travel.  He’s a FreshNeck member, and a fashion blogger with some dapper style. So why should you know about him (and follow his blog)? Because he’s 9 years old, and we can all learn a thing or two from him, namely confidence and being yourself.

His post on FreshNeck caught our eye (He rocked an Everett tweed bow tie and pocket square combo for New Year’s). Apparently his mother gifted him a membership for the holidays, and Toby is taking full advantage. He tells us that he can’t really wear our ties or suspenders because he’s too small, but fortunately he’s a master of bow ties, pocket squares, and cufflinks. Seriously, if he can tie his own bow, isn’t it time you learned once and for all?

We hadn’t grown into our personal style until our early twenties. When we were 9 (okay, 17), we were still in our sweatpants. It’s refreshing to see someone, especially at that age, forge his own path. We’re wishing Toby nothing but success. We have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll hear from him.

Some of our favorite looks from Toby:

New Kiton Ties and Pocket Squares

TheCollection banner

We’re always doing our best to keep our Collection “fresh” (see what we did there?). This comes in many forms: 1) ensuring we have variety at each membership level, 2) multiples of each item so they are generally available, 3) finding the best emerging designers, 4) experimenting with products and designs.

In this light, we have been making many inventory purchases over the past month(with more to come), that will be made available on the site over the coming weeks. Since the Collection is getting a bit cumbersome (over 1600 unique items!), we will highlight some of our favorite new additions here, so you can efficiently add the ones you like to your closet.

Kiton_03Today, we’re proud to highlight our new collection of Kiton pocket squares. Kiton represents the finest in Italian luxury. Their pocket squares are 15″, made from the highest quality silk in Napoli, and feature hand-rolled edges in a contrasting color.  The new additions feature medallion prints in a variety of bold colors. Kiton pocket squares make a great stand-alone accessory with a blazer and shirt, or as a compliment to a quality tie.

You can check them all out, along with our Kiton ties, here.

By the way, these pocket squares retail for $140 each. We’re pretty confident in our value proposition, so here’s the link to prove it.

Staff Picks: Fall Preview

We know that looking through over 1500 ties, bow ties, pocket squares, and cufflinks can be a daunting (but fun) task, so every once in a while we like to highlight a few of our personal favorites.

September 22nd is the first official day of Fall, so it’s getting to be the time to put away those linens and seersuckers, and opt for something a bit heavier (think wool).  And those summer pastels should be replaced with burgundy (the hottest color of the upcoming season), navy, emerald green, and other autumnal colors.

Fortunately, with FreshNeck, it won’t cost you anything to make the seasonal switch:

Fresh Weddings!

groomsmen 2

We can think of no more fitting occasion to get “dressed to the nines” and pay attention to clothing choices than a wedding.  Whether you’re attending as a groomsman, a regular guest, or if this is your special day, just grabbing the first thing in your closet just won’t do.

At FreshNeck, we’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of many of these unforgettable days.  We’ve outfitted grooms, groomsmen, fathers of the brides/grooms, and some very stylish wedding crashers! With FreshNeck, it is now simple and affordable to wear something unique for that one day.  No longer do you have to recycle that solid black bow tie for every single wedding.

How We Can Help

Let’s face it.  Wedding expenses get out of hand quickly, so there is no need to spend an extra grand outfitting yourself and your groomsmen with ties they will likely wear once.  And the old “giving the tie as a groomsmen gift” is a waste of money, and is rarely appreciated by the recipient.  The solution – Rent accessories for the day, and buy them groomsmen gifts with some sentiment attached.

– 1-time rentals on unique formal accessories from designers including Brioni, Vitaliano Pancaldi, Prada, Gucci, and more. Whether you are looking for a tie, bow tie, pocket square, cufflinks, or an entire set, we got you covered.

– Groomsmen packages.  We carry up to 12 units of many of our styles, to outfit your entire  wedding party.

– Custom packages.  Let us know what you’re looking for, in terms of style, type, and color.  You can even provide a picture of your bride-to-be’s color palette, and we can work with our vendors to create something just for you. If we don’t already have it, we’ll get it.

– Discounts with affiliates, including custom tuxedos and shirts.

Our Work

We recently had the honor of being a part of Bonnie and Kevin Boon’s special day at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.  Bonnie had chosen a beautiful teal for her bridesmaids’ dresses, and Kevin was looking for something affordable for his 8 groomsmen that would match, and he preferred a skinnier width of tie. FreshNeck worked with one of its vendors, Imani Uomo, to achieve this look, and we added solid white cotton pocket squares to finish it off.  The gentlemen looked dapper, but I think we can all agree the greatest accessory is a beautiful bride like Bonnie.  Check out some of the pictures:

A Tie for Any Occasion

john_0745

Neckwear can provide the ability for any man to elevate his appearance whether that’s to his boss, his friends or even his future wife. However, not just any tie will do. With today’s wide variety of menswear, it’s easy to tailor your style towards any event or circumstance you may find yourself in.

OFFICE

The office is all about showing off your confidence – without appearing arrogant. On your climb to the corner office, wear striped patterns while keeping in mind the power colors such as gold, blue and black when putting together your look. Stick with traditional silk and nothing slimmer than 3 inches.  Bring it all together with a tie bar.

We Recommend:

Silver – Ben Sherman, Antonio Ricci

Gold – Burberry, Brooks Brothers

Platinum - Armani Collezioni, Versace

DAY CASUAL

Get noticed for all the right reasons at your next brunch, day party or stroll around town. For a casual look, throw on a loosely knotted tie and roll up those sleeves to your collared shirt.  If you’re committed to fashion like us, think about skinny ties in solid colors and prints in non-traditional fabrics like linen and cotton.

We Recommend:

Silver –  DiBiEverett

Gold- Ivy Prepster, rag & bone

Platinum- Breuer, Bocara

NIGHT CASUAL

Whether it’s a casual first date or a night on the town, neckwear shows an attention to detail as well as style and personality. Remember that night casual is different than office attire. Look for slim and dark styles or take chances in something velvet or leather. Feeling adventurous? Drop a pocket square in your jacket and try to layer with cardigans and vests.

We Recommend:

Silver - Everett

Gold - VJNY, Ted Baker

(Bow)Tie of the Day – Vitaliano Pancaldi Black Swarovski Crystal

Many things are signified by the turning of the weather, and the coming of Spring.  One of our favorites – Wedding Season! Great food, open bars, dancing, bridesmaids – what’s not to love? But you don’t need us to tell you – after all you’ve been staring at those invitations on your fridge since they came 4 months ago.  But you do need us to answer one question – “What am I going to wear?”  Well, this is actually a trick question. Because now with FreshNeck, the “Netflix for Ties,” you no longer have to wear that same ol’ boring solid black tie or bow tie over and over again to ever event.  This is your chance to mix it up, and stand out from the rest of the sheep.  FreshNeck has tons of formal accessories (134 to be exact) that will have you looking dapper, refined, and classy.

So in this spirit, we’re using our Tie of the Day column to highlight one of our favorites, the Vitaliano Pancaldi ruffled black silk bow tie featuring Swarovski Crystals.  Here’s a few things you should know about it: 1) it’s made from the highest quality Italian black silk, so will qualify for “Black Tie” 2) the ruffles and crystals give it the requisite “wow” factor to start at least 20 conversations, and 3) it’s pre-tied, so you won’t have to watch a tutorial before donning this bad boy. So what are you waiting for? Channel your inner Bradley Cooper and sign up at FreshNeck today.

FreshNeck.com is officially live.  Our entire Collection of over 800 designer ties, pocket squares and cufflinks are up and ready to be browsed.  I know it can be a daunting task to comb through our massive collection, so let me offer some help.  Here are some of our favorite items, if you like what you see you can just click the link and add them to your virtual closet.

 Forsyth Plaid Wool Tie

Thanksgiving is nearly here and this is the perfect tie to wear while sitting around the dinner table stuffing your face with turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans or just lounging on the couch watching the football games waiting for the tryptophan to kick in.  It’s a 100% wool, which is an absolute classic autumn fabric as it conveys warmth and ruggedness.  On top of that, the orange, brown, yellow and blue plaid color scheme is a sartorial hit for fall.

Etro Silk Floral Tie

Founded in 1968 by Italian designer Gimmo Etro, Etro is known for its high quality fabrics, innovative color patterns and embellished designs.  This tie follows suit (no pun intended).  The paisley pattern has become a hallmark of the Etro brand.  This %100 silk tie possess a dignified and vivid blue and green floral print on a red and orange base.  It makes a statement that you have a defined unflinching style, think Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire.

Hermes Striped Links Tie

It’s hard impossible to go wrong with a Hermes tie.  Made in France from the highest quality silk, Hermes neck wear is the Rolls Royce of ties.  The intricate link pattern is understated, but will definitely impress.  Hermes is the epitome of luxury goods, and this tie which can be worn on any occasion will not disappoint.

“The Triplets” by Armstrong & Wilson

There is so much to like about this %100 cotton pocket square.  It has an extremely versatile navy and white gingham pattern, a stylish pink trim and a blue fabric button just to put it over the top.  Perfect for a weekend trip up to Cape Cod while slurping on clam chowder and cracking open some fresh lobster.

Tateossian Gun Metal Cufflinks with Ruby Rocks

Legendary UCLA basketball Coach John Wooden famously once said, “It’s the little details that are vital.”  Well, that’s how we feel about cufflinks, often overlooked, a killer pair of cufflinks can take your style to a whole new level.  These Tateossian cufflinks aren’t your father’s cufflinks, they’re not the classic silver stud cufflinks people have become accustomed to, they’re flashy, bold and modern.
